FAQ

Finding your wedding dress should be one of your first priorities in the wedding planning process.  Wedding gowns typically take up to 6 months to arrive from the time you order and then you need to allow at least 2 months for alterations, so you will want to start shopping at least 8-10 months before your big day.

We strongly suggest making an appointment in order to guarantee a consultant and a fitting room. We always do our best to accommodate walk-ins; however priority is given to those with appointments. Tuesdays and Sundays are by appointment only.

Every salon and designer has a different price range. At The Bridal House of Charleston, our gowns are priced between $1,000 and $3,600.

We do have a very talented seamstress; however, alterations are a separate cost. While we cannot quote the cost of alterations without knowing how much work will be required, the typical price range for our seamstress is $250 – $450.

While we understand the inclination to involve your closest family members, friends, and bridesmaids, shopping with large groups often results in a frustrating and disappointing experience for the bride.  Even the most confident brides find themselves overwhelmed by too many opinions and feel pressured to please everyone in the group.  We recommend shopping with a maximum of 2-3 trusted family members or close friends for an enjoyable and successful shopping experience.
Over-shopping almost always results in overwhelmed brides.  Every bridal shop in Charleston has a beautiful selection of gowns and provides excellent service; therefore we strongly suggest making appointments at 1 or 2 salons in your selected price range, in order to ensure a positive and enjoyable shopping experience.

A bridal trunk show is a collection of gowns from the specified designer that travel the country and are available in each store only during the event (usually 1 or 2 weeks). Trunk shows are a wonderful opportunity for brides to try the newest most exclusive designer gowns, many of which are not otherwise available in stores. Appointments are highly recommended during trunk shows, as they tend to be very popular and spaces fill up quickly.

We strongly prefer that children under the age of 12 be left at home with a loved one. If you do plan on having children attend your appointment, they absolutely must remain quietly seated with an adult at all times during the appointment.
